Tutor Quality & Trust

Are Estia’s tutors qualified teachers?

Estia Tuition employs fully qualified teachers for all year groups. This distinguishes us from other marketplace platforms where tutors may not hold formal teaching qualifications.

How are tutors vetted and DBS checked?

Estia Tuition's Safeguarding Policy is aligned to KCSIE 2022 and other key legislation. Estia is fully committed to children's safety, fostering a culture where children feel safe to raise concerns, all forms of bullying and discrimination are prohibited, and staff are trained to respond effectively. All our tutors are qualified teachers who undergo enhanced DBS checks (every 3 years), provide two references, complete suitability declarations, and are checked against the children's barred list prior to joining the team. They are also exposed to regular ongoing training.

Will my child have the same tutor every week?

Yes, your child will usually have the same tutor each week. We place a strong emphasis on consistency because that's where confidence and real progress begin. Our teachers are human and sometimes unavoidable situations occur when they cannot make a lesson. All teachers follow the same lesson structure and have detailed records of each student so they can step in for another teacher if needed. Each student is carefully matched with a tutor based on their level, learning style and personality. Every lesson is also supported by the Estia Online Learning Platform, which provides structure and allows progress to be tracked clearly over time.

What if my child doesn’t like their tutor?

It's completely natural to wonder about this, and we make the process simple. We take your feedback seriously and follow up thoroughly — if the fit or pace is not working then we will arrange a new tutor who is a better fit. What's reassuring is that your child's learning journey continues seamlessly — the Estia Online Learning Platform keeps everything consistent, so progress isn't lost during a change. Our focus is always on finding the right environment where your child feels supported, confident, and ready to learn.

Platform & Technology

What is the Estia Tuition Study Hub and parent portal?

The Estia Tuition Study Hub enables data-driven learning through a structured approach that identifies knowledge gaps and creates targeted learning plans delivering measurable results. It supports continuous assessment and seamlessly tracks each student's progress to ensure consistent improvement. The platform offers on-demand lessons and exams, giving students access to a vast library of resources aligned with the UK curriculum to support schoolwork and homework at any time. In addition, it provides a parent portal for tracking measurable results, offering full visibility of student progress and certificates achieved. Students also benefit from 24-hour teacher support, with the ability to email expert tutors at any time for guidance or clarification.

What devices does the Estia platform work on?

The platform is best suited for a desktop or tablet, but if necessary a smartphone can be used for a lesson.

Can my child access the platform independently between sessions?

The Estia online platform can be accessed from anywhere, 24 hours a day. Students and parents are issued login details with passwords to ensure privacy.

How does Estia Tuition personalise learning for my child?

We conduct a comprehensive assessment of your child's current education levels in Maths and English. This helps us to build an individualised programme that directly addresses the gaps in their knowledge. Our sophisticated system provides plenty of opportunities throughout each lesson for your child to test their knowledge, so they know what they need to work on to improve their overall understanding and skills. Parents are given access to comprehensive reports on their child's progress, ensuring full transparency at every stage.

Results & Progress

How quickly will I see results with Estia online tuition?

Most parents notice a difference early on — often within the first few lessons. This might show up as increased confidence, better engagement, or a clearer understanding of key topics. From the very first session, clear goals are agreed with you and your child. After each lesson, you receive a summary so you can see exactly what's been covered and how your child is progressing. The Estia Online Learning Platform brings everything together — giving you a clear, ongoing view of progress as your child builds skills step by step. With regular lessons, our students begin to show steady academic improvement within a few weeks, developing into stronger, more consistent results over time.

How does Estia help children who are behind at school?

Estia Tuition teaches based on where each student actually is, not where they should be. This ensures that each teacher is able to support a student from their current level versus an expected year group level, building confidence and filling gaps systematically.

Can Estia Tuition help with GCSE preparation?

Yes we can. We have specialist GCSE teachers to support students preparing for their exams. We like to start this as early as possible to ensure the best results. GCSE exam preparation requires commitment from both student and parents. Our approach is to support the application of theory and help students overcome the typical exam challenges they encounter.

Does Estia Tuition support children with learning difficulties?

We review each child on a case-by-case basis. We are honest and upfront about what we can and cannot support — if a child needs a level of specialist intervention that falls outside our expertise, we will say so clearly. We invite you to let us know about your child's learning needs to help inform our tutors about any interventions you are aware of. It's important to note that Estia Tuition does not carry out formal assessments or diagnoses of learning difficulties. Any formal assessment recommendations would need to come from a qualified educational psychologist or specialist.

How does Estia Tuition track and report my child’s progress?

Parents have full visibility of their child's progress through our dedicated Parent Portal, which provides bi-monthly progress reports and a direct line of communication with our tutors. You can monitor how your child is improving over time relative to their target level. In addition, a summary of every lesson is emailed to you directly, giving you weekly visibility of what your child has been working on and where their focus areas lie.

Home Education & Special Circumstances

Can Estia Tuition be used for home-educated children?

Yes, and Trustpilot reviews explicitly praise Estia as 'a hidden gem' for home-educating parents. The platform provides a structured, comprehensive curriculum that aligns with national standards. The detailed progress reports and tracking available through the Parent Portal can serve as robust proof of education for local councils, making it an ideal complementary tool for parents managing their children's education at home.

Is Estia Tuition suitable for gifted or talented learners?

Absolutely. If your child has been identified as a gifted or talented student, we can support them. Estia Tuition isn't just about catch-up — we work with high-achievers too, helping them get ahead and reach their full potential rather than simply keeping pace with their year group. Our tutors are carefully matched to each child, so an advanced learner will always be working with someone well-placed to stretch and challenge them. We assess every student at the outset to establish their current level, and teaching is pitched accordingly — so a gifted child will never be held back by a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
